About Me
Hello! Nice to meet you!
I'm Alberto, a senior Economics student @ UNC-Chapel Hill. My economics education has taken me from the Global Citizenship Alliance in Austria to Yonsei University in Korea, where I studied macroeconomics and strategic management, and back to UNC. Studying in three countries showed me how markets and public institutions shape everyday life. My work in civic engagement turned that into a commitment to public service.
The arts are part of that commitment too. Covering breaking gaming news sharpened my marketing voice and taught me to explain complex topics clearly to a public audience online, and to take that responsibility seriously. Music is also where my love of the arts lives. To live is to experience art, and that's a big part of why people work at all. Making art a part of everyone's life depends on fair, accessible economic activity between firms, workers, and consumers. That belief is what draws me to public procurement: how governments source and spend decides which services and opportunities reach the public.
I'm a first-generation Cuban American, raised in Miami. My path into leadership started with mentorship at the Honors College at Miami Dade College, where clerical and administrative work at the school and leadership within FBLA built my foundation.
That foundation took me to Europe for the first time with the Global Citizenship Alliance, then into civic engagement, and from there into sales at First Wave AI, where I learned to sell and build relationships professionally.
I carried that momentum into a transfer to UNC-Chapel Hill, choosing it over other offers from Babson College, the University of Wisconsin, USC, UCF, and FSU.
At UNC, econometrics has been my biggest academic challenge yet. Alongside it, I started at Demystified Studios as a QA tester for an educational program in business entrepreneurship, then moved into a marketing internship.
That role took me to Yonsei University in South Korea, where I studied macroeconomics and strategic management.
Now, I'm an aspiring procurement professional. I try to stay holistic in how I work, and that range of experience, spanning cultures, countries, and industries, has sharpened the people skills I bring into every room.
